Types of carpet
Level loop (Berber)
For high traffic areas.
Multi level loop
Vary in type to give carpet patterned textures.
Cut pile
This yarn is cut without loops which tends to be denser and softer than a loop. Several types of cut piles are available.
Plush
Smoother texture with formal appearance.
Saxony
Smooth finish with longer fibres, twisted together to give each fibre more body.
Textured cut pile
Fibres of uneven lengths creating a rougher surface.
Frieze
Long fibres not recommended for high traffic areas. Commonly known as shag piles.
Cable
Long thick fibres very comfortable under foot.
